An undigested article, catalogued 26th February 2022.

Why Medium Sucks: A shitposter posts shit about Medium that is very, very wrong. Let’s break down this shitpost, shall we?

1. “The Left-center bias”: Someone once said that reality tends to lean liberal. That’s the ‘bias’ the shitposter is complaining about, and the reason for that is that modern conservatism is founded on lies in furtherance of bigotry.

2. “Payment issues”: Well, yes, if you try to sign up for a service despite it explicitly saying it’s not ready and therefore you won’t get anything, don’t be surprised when…you don’t get anything.

3. “The cookie-cutter curation process”: This is confirmation bias. Content-driven algorithms are designed to promote articles you’re likely to read, so if you focus on the same few authors you’ll keep getting those same few authors.

4. “Half of the articles are about Medium itself”: How meta, a shitposter complaining about shitposts about Medium…on Medium.

5. “The publications”: This sounds like someone who doesn’t understand the guidelines.

6. “Why do responses count as Published stories?”: Because there’s a separate section for comments…
